How to Make Plarn

Plarn is "Plastic Yarn" and it's actually a really nice medium to use in weaving. I've made many reusable shopping totes using cotton for warp and plarn for the weft.  It's made from those evil plastic shopping bags that, when not recycled, end up in our oceans and kill sea life. It mainly kills turtles who mistake them for jelly fish.  You can do this with anything that's a tube, which includes t-shirts. Cut off the top portion of the t-shirt at the armpits and use the bottom portion which becomes a tube.

Here's how to make it.

Here's some tote bags made with plarn.
