The Rockette

Sunday February 19, 2012

Here's the cardboard lumber copy of the Schacht Cricket that I made for myself. Been wanting a Cricket for 2 years but could never afford one. This is made from cardboard lumber, covered with tissue paper and wheat paste (like paper mache) and then painted to look like granite.  I call it "The Rockette". Works like a dream!  I added a "warp helper" to this by poking a hole in one of the back "wings". It holds the warp beam stick while indirect warping.  Works fantastically.

This is the best use of Beka Loom parts ever. I ripped off the ratchet and dogs from the 24" Beka and used them on this. Then I added some wooden trim to their 10" heddle from their child's loom and voila!

Shown here with a scarf in process for a friend who is a motorcycle enthusiast.

Copy of The Cricket Loom made with cardboard lumber.
